The Laverton Training Centre acknowledges the Wongi and Wongatha people on whose country we work and meet, and pays respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging. We pay respect to all past, present and future Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
WHAT WE DO
Provide vocational education training programs to local and regional people who would otherwise be unable to access formal training
Aim to improve the participation rate of disadvantaged people in training and skills development which leads to increased economic capacity and workforce participation
Offer training in a refurbished, customised building located in Laverton, in the middle of the northern Goldfields region
ABOUT THE LAVERTON TRAINING CENTRE
The Centre provides remote access to nationally accredited vocational training and creates opportunities for local Aboriginal people to be trained into local employment through increasing vocational skill sets.

MESSAGES FROM OUR PEOPLE
Mac Jensen OAM
General Manager
Laverton Training Centre

"The LTC is a pretty unique concept. We piloted the program for four years in Wiluna and then moved to Laverton so now we can offer these opportunities to the entire northern goldfields. The secret of our success is family involvement and being responsive to culture to assist people to transition from their current circumstances into training and then into employment."

Matthew Shackleton
Director, Laverton Training Centre and Australian Potash Limited

"The reason a company like Australian Potash invests in social facilities like the Laverton Training Centre is that our project is going to be in this community for more than 30 years and we genuinely feel that it's our obligation to give something back to the community. One of the endeavours we thought we could pursue was to focus on enhancing the economic capacity of the people who live in Laverton and would otherwise feel, or potentially be, too marginalised to develop their own capacity."
